While not quite as good as his previous releases, T.I. still continues to make his mark as one of the most prolific artists in the industry.
With this being T.I.'s sixth album release, he continues to be one of the few artists in the industry to continuously deliver quality albums. While many artists/labels struggle to deliver two or three albums oozing in quality and popularity, T.I. seems to have no problem achieving this whatsoever.
Pros: As you have probably heard on the radio, where his songs have been played thousands of times on each station, T.I. seems to stay on track with his style of hip-hop, only veering off a little in a few tracks. T.I. features numerous other A-list artists in his songs and complements the tracks beautifully. From Kanye West in "Swagga Like Us" to Rihanna in "Live Your Life," T.I. expands both his artistic style and incorporating other artists that contrast him nicely.
Cons: Like in most albums, filler does not elude this one. While not as bad as many albums, "Paper Trail" only has about 3-4 tracks that just seem to fall short. Also, if you are expecting hard-hitting tracks, like in his previous albums, prepare to be somewhat disappointed as he only includes 3-4 tracks that resemble his previous style. However, this in no way ruins the overall experience and in reality, are the only shortcomings for T.I.
If you buy this album expecting the hard-hitting T.I., you will be somewhat disappointed. However, if you listen with an open mind, you will be greatly rewarded as T.I. incorporates his apparent artistic ability with contemporary musical style. For fans of T.I. that have not already bought Paper Trail, or new listeners looking for a reputable rapper, look no further and buy Paper Trail now!
