Seth Rogan is back at it again, this time making a porno. Despite having a great premise, cast and dialogue, the film fails delivering just a bit at the end
Zack and Miri have always been best friends, but are getting no where in life. They are behind on their bills, working at dead end jobs, about to get their power and water turned off and basically just wastes of life. So what would any rational American in their shoes do? Make a porno! Luckily for them, while attending a high-school graduation, Zack (Seth Rogan) meets the boyfriend of a fellow classmate, played by Justin Long and absolutely hilarious, who is a porn star. After realizing that Zack finally has an answer to his financial problems, he swiftly coerces Miri into joining him in his lucrative venture. From that point on, the film is filled with hysterical one-liners, and more importantly, roles.
One of Zack and Miri's biggest strengths by far, is their incredible cast. Each role is extremely well contrived and has a plethora of memorable one-liners. The two that stood out the most were most definitely Lester the Molester (Jason Mewes) and Delaney (Craig Robinson). Delaney carries over his talented acting from the Office (which happens to be one of my favorite TV shows) and if are into his type of comedic acting, you are in for a treat. However, that is not to take anything away from Zack (Seth Rogan), as he delivers numerous long-winded tirades that are just hilarious and absolutely perfectly delivered.
Although Zack and Miri deliver on one of the most important facets of a movie, they do disappoint in one area. I obviously cannot give out any spoilers, but the ending, arguably, is guaranteed to disappoint a considerable portion of viewers. I would have loved the movie so much more if they just expanded the ending five more minutes, conveying how each role ended up subsequent to the filming of the porno.
Excluding the end, Seth Rogan can add yet another comedic masterpiece to his portfolio as he delivered on all fronts. While I do not recommend this movie for everyone, for obvious reasons which can easily be deduced by just reading the title of the movie, I do recommend it for everyone who has a sense of humor and does not label something as sexist if it decides to display the female figure sexually. If you fall in the latter, see Zack and Miri now and it will have you contemplating entering the porn industry in no time!
